Super Specific Location on TCU’s Campus

Crowds of people swarm throughout the day to this place on a Saturday in the fall. It’s a place that makes everyone happy and thankful to be a TCU student. Shoulder to shoulder, and foot to foot, standing is the only option in this special location. A place where people bond together regardless of affiliation or social grouping. Just rows of small, skinny platforms of metal that oust students enough above the ground to see the purple and white surrounding them. The sunshine washes all worries away as a family of 44k people stand together in this special place all cheering for the same cause.

Relatable, Believable, Inspiring: Memphis

Most relatable when talking about my hometown because it is what I know best and what I feel most attached to. I feel as if it is believable also because I like to engulf myself with the city that I live in and be a proud supporter and embodiment of all of the fun, diverse things that Nashville has to offer. Most inspiring words would come from when I was spoken to by God at the Christmas eve service outside.

Covid Memory

With all of the bads that came with covid, the staple and light in my life was the time I got to spend with friends outside in nature. That came in the form of playing golf on the public golf courses in Nashville: McCabe, Harpeth Hills, and Percy Warner. All of these places are owned by the state parks in Nashville which happened to shut down at the beginning of the pandemic. This lockdown lit a lightbulb in the eyes of my friends and I that we could play free golf, outside where it was safe, and be together where we otherwise would not be able to. I would get out of Zoom class where I felt so alone, bored, and lost and turn that boredom into happiness as soon as I pulled into the drive of the chosen course for the day. 18 holes to clear one’s mind was the difference in sorrow/loneliness and joy in the life of my Junior year self.

Example of COVID schedule in my TCU today’s life

  • Wake up, roll over in bed, lay in bed until I truly know I have to get up for class

  • Spend a too short amount of time getting ready for class

  • Show up to class directly on time (never early, maybe a little bit late to be honest)

  • Read a lot about TCU sports

  • Read about whatever is going on in the world

  • Maybe get a library sandwich of so for lunch (turkey, ham club)

  • Watch some sort of sports news/talk show to catch up on happenings in the world

  • Hangout with my friends and roommates and see how their days are going comparatively to mine

  • Go on a run after forcing myself to even though I do not want to

    • Go hang in the sauna and reflect on my day and think about random things

  • Get a good dinner and hang out in my room all night

    • Probably pop into my friends rooms

  • Plan something for the weekend usually a golf tee time or so

  • Continue to look forward to the good weather and the plans that I have with my friends

  • Watch sports to end my night and usually bet on a basketball game or two

  • Go to bed and SLEEP knowing I have another great day ahead of me tomorrow

Mentor Text: Sia - Chandelier: How one can use the environment to depict certain characteristics

Many times the environment that surrounds a certain happening is more telling and informative than the action itself. In many music videos, movies, and TV shows, the setting can either make or break the storyline that embodies the story as a whole.
