In the future, I hope to advise incoming TCU students to not only get involved in STUMO and to continue their religious faith, but to get involved in whatever fulfills their heart. For me, the Bible study that I am a current part of fills my week with happiness, keeps me grounded, and helps me grow in my faith and as a person. I hope that each incoming TCU student can find their special niche that they want to continue or become a part of during their first semester in a new home. When people find activities that make them happy outside the classroom, they help better and grow themselves as well as the community that surrounds them.

Although I do hope that each student finds their specific niche on campus, I hope that I can help the ones that want to continue their faith journey’s fulfill that desire. The statistics about students losing their faith when they enter college are alarming. I want to help bring these students into the community where I belong or to ones that make them feel at home. I was brought into my special place by older students and I hope to do the same by giving back.

Community building has been something that has become extremely important to me ever since I stepped foot on the TCU campus. My Bible study is a true microcosm of the endearing, family-style community that TCU holds within its campus. I am looking forward to giving back to this community that is apparent on campus through my role as a residential advisor next year for Worth Hills. I hope that I can be a part of the drive to make TCU a place where everyone feels at home and where each student feels comfortable. I was given this comfort by Stephen Click and my friends in my Bible study, and I hope that I can provide that same feeling in the residence halls.

Letter to Incoming Freshman

Dear Incoming TCU Students,

I hope you are having a great end to your senior year. I am reaching out to you today to inform you about the importance of on campus involvement at TCU, more specifically continuing your faith journey into and throughout college. As an incoming student, I came into TCU looking to find a group of people that could recreate the close-knit, religious group of friends that I had in high school. After hearing about the high rate of college students that lose their religious faith in college, I grew concerned about my ability to find a group that would help me reach my goal. However, similar to many of my close friends, my goal was quickly achieved as I was introduced to STUMO Bible studies. This organization helps college students grow in leadership, character, and spiritual development. This community helped me feel at home within just a week of being on campus. My specific Bible study helps me stay religiously curious, active, and grounded in my faith as a Christain. I recommend this organization to all incoming students looking to continue their faith even as they move away from the comfort of your home church or respective fellowship community. I hope that you will share this message with anyone who would like to see it. Find your niche, find your people, and create the highlight of your week. I am looking forward to meeting so many of you in the fall!

Best,

Clay Crawford
